Performance for Wrapping
For our last major launch, we decided to redesign our entire bar tape range. This has resulted in nine new bar tapes, 25 different colour variants and some brand-new accessories, which we would like to present to you here.
Wrapping Handlebar Tape
A well-wrapped bar tape on the bike makes all the difference: a secure grip, comfortable damping and a look that perfectly matches the rest of the bike. We demonstrate the right technique and give you some helpful tips for top notch results.
Maximum comfort on all routes
Not every route is a smoothly paved road. During your workout, you are sure to encounter the occasional pothole. With inadequate equipment, even a small bump in the road surface can affect your body. Gravel bike riders definitely know a thing or two about uneven paths. With a special material composition, our bar tapes provide the necessary cushioning.
SuperComfort.Grip
The SuperComfort.grip gives your hands maximum comfort. The synthetic bar tape is made with a cushioning foam matrix that significantly reduces shocks and vibrations. The long hole structure on the surface not only looks stylish, but also offers plenty of grip. A special feature of the SuperComfort.Grip bar tape is the integrated silicone strip on the back - this replaces the classic adhesive strip. As a result, the bar tape is self-adhesive and can be removed without leaving any residue.
SuperComfort.Grip MG
This handlebar tape has the same advantages as the SuperComfort.Grip but is particularly interesting for gravel bike fans. The MG model is longer and thicker than regular bar tapes, making it ideal for the typically wider gravel handlebars. It is 220cm long, 3cm wide, and has a thickness of 3,5mm.
Reflective bar tapes for increased visibility
With the right clothing and a bit of preparation, you can easily ride your road or gravel bike even during the darker seasons. However, most of these delicate bikes are equipped with only the bare minimum accessories to maximise aerodynamics. That’s why an important part of our completely new range is reflective handlebar tape.
Reflex.Micro
The Reflex.Micro bar tape has several layers: the top layer has a perforated pattern, which provides plenty of grip even in wet weather conditions due to its structure. The second, reflective layer ensures visibility in traffic. The layers are made from easy-care PU (polyurethane) with a foam matrix that optimally absorbs vibrations from riding on uneven surfaces. This reduces the strain on your hands, as the constant pressure differences are less noticeable.
Reflex.Grip
A little sparkle in the dark: the Reflex.Grip glitters when illuminated! In addition to the extra visibility, the 3M reflective material also impresses with its rough surface, which ensures a firm grip. Even when wearing gloves, and regardless of whether it is dry or wet. As with the Reflex.Micro bar tape, we also use polyurethane with a foam matrix for the other layers to ensure a high level of comfort.
Wide range of colours for an individual look
In addition to the comfort and performance aspect, you can always change the look of your bike with bar tape. Do you want to make a statement with a bright red colour or do you prefer a clean look? How about a retro turquoise or yellow colour to match your bottle cage? In our range, you will find a wide selection of different colours and designs to make your bike as personal as possible.
Prestige.Grip
Eight colours, one model: With the Prestige.Grip, you can design your handlebar to suit your taste. The CONTEC logo is positioned on the bar tape in such a way that you can either leave it visible or cover it, depending on the winding direction. The special diamond structure of the surface ensures that you have a firm grip on the bar even in wet conditions. An EVA foam matrix is located on the inside, which has a cushioning effect.
Prestige.Cork
Eight colours, one model, but with a special material composition! The Prestige.Cork also has a large selection of colours, allowing you to customise your bike. In addition to the EVA foam matrix, the bar tape is also partly made from cork. This makes the surface slightly porous and non-slip. The bar tapes in the Prestige range are very elastic and therefore particularly easy to wrap. What's more, they won't break the bank, so they are ideal for beginners!
Special look and reliable comfort
Now it's getting fancy: unusual colours and different designs immediately make a bike more interesting. With these three bar tapes, you can achieve both without ignoring important factors such as comfort, grip, and ergonomics.
Prestige.Carbon
The carbon look is very popular and therefore naturally belongs in our new bar tape range. The Prestige.carbon in carbon black and white is a real eye-catcher and can also be wrapped neatly and crease-free thanks to its elasticity. Inside, a high quality EVA foam matrix ensures that the bar tape reduces pressure loads.
Comfort.Micro
The look of the Comfort.Micro bar tape is based on classic leather models, but the material is different. A high quality EVA foam matrix combined with gel on the inside ensures that bumps on the road are cushioned. The synthetic EVA foam is also particularly durable. The surface is perforated to create a non-slip structure.
Comfort.Tacky
We couldn't resist including some more experimental designs in our new bar tape range: Here's Comfort.Tacky! The universal designs with shiny, glittery and metallic colours are real eye-catchers and give your bike that certain something. Thanks to the smooth surface and easy-care PU (polyurethane) material, dirt can be easily removed with a wet cloth.
Small extras that make a big difference
All bar tape models in our new range are packaged with matching bar end plugs and adhesive strips for fixing. When we launched the new bar tapes, we also added even more matching accessories to our range.
These include a selection of additional CONTEC bar end plugs: These can be used to reliably secure your bar ends and you also have the option of customising the look of your bike.
To take the strain off your hands on longer tours, you can equip your road or gravel handlebar with the new CONTEC Comfort.pad bar tape padding. The waterproof gel pad absorbs vibrations and shocks and is placed under the bar tape. It is suitable for both classic round handlebars and flat top handlebars with an aero design, making it universally applicable.
