Saddles
Sustainable comfort
We have dedicated over two years to the project of renewing the entire CONTEC saddle range. The aim of this massive project was to simplify our range for cyclists like you, whilst not neglecting individual comfort and performance. At the same time, we focused on more sustainable materials. We have now developed seven new series in which every cyclist can find the right saddle without having to do hours of research beforehand. The motto: Comfort doesn't have to be complicated!
Saddles made from recycled materials
If you turn the saddles from the Anatomic, Sonic, Logic and Majestic series upside down, you can take a look at the inner workings of the models. It consists of recycled PU foam pieces that could no longer be used in other productions. Instead of simply being disposed of, they are shredded and pressed into a new shape. The result is the high-density PU foam inside our saddles, which has a cushioning effect and offers a high level of comfort. The interior is enclosed by a lower shell and a saddle frame, which also consist of up to 35% recycled materials. The saddles in the Anatomic and Logic series are equipped with an additional elastomer suspension, which is also made entirely from recycled materials.
What remains unseen by consumers and cyclists, yet is still significant: Instead of a plastic cover, the outer packaging of our saddles (as they arrive at the specialist dealer) is 100% plastic-free and made from recycled fleece instead.
Clever technology, unmatched comfort
Our saddle specifications feature numerous designations for the innovative technologies we incorporated during development. In order to take into account the different riding styles and individual needs, different approaches are required in terms of shape, material and function depending on the saddle model. Here, we explain the different technology.
Saddle covers
Better Ride Cover
(Series: Anatomic and Static)
The Better Ride Cover (BRC for short) is a two-layer saddle cover made of PVC. Thanks to the two types of hardness of the layers, the BRC offers several advantages: Comfort, durability and protection.
It is 100% waterproof and UV-resistant, so it wears out very little, whatever the season. The second layer on the inside ensures a high level of comfort, even on long rides.
Vacuum sealing
(Series: Anatomic, Logic and Static)
Instead of being sewn shut as with conventional saddles, the saddle cover on the majority of our models is vacuum-sealed and made from a single piece. It is stretched so far over the saddle that it is fixed in place with the lower shell and additional seams. Before it is completely sealed, air is drawn out of the gap, resulting in a vacuum that creates a waveless, airtight and waterproof saddle flap. The fact that the saddle cover has no visible seams means that they cannot chafe.
Comfort gel insole
(Series: Anatomic and Logic)
The comfort gel insert lies directly under the saddle cover. The gel adapts to your buttocks and goes back into its original shape when you dismount. Saddles with this insert are therefore very suitable for bikes used by several people: Despite the different anatomies and comfort requirements, the saddle always adapts to its rider.
Saddle shapes
Sport Zone
(Series: Anatomic, Sonic, Logic, Dynamic)
We refer to the lowered middle section of the saddle as the Sport Zone. This provides pressure relief for the sensitive areas of your body. Models with a Sport Zone are particularly suitable for active cyclists with a slightly forward leaning posture, for example on a trekking or mountain bike.
Zone Cut
(Series: Anatomic and Static)
When we talk about a zone cut, we mean a completely cut-out middle section of the saddle. This not only ensures maximum pressure relief but can also be used as a handle to make it easier to transport the bike. It also saves weight. This is particularly practical for gravel bikes or racing bikes.
Anti-slip
(Series: Sonic)
The anti-slip already has its function in its name - it is designed to prevent you from sliding backwards on the saddle. The rear part of our Sonic saddle models is slightly raised so that you always sit securely on your e-bike or S-pedelec at higher speeds.
Saddle fillings
High-density PU foam
(Series: Anatomic, Logic, Majestic and Magic)
Inside our saddles from the above-mentioned series are tightly compressed pieces of foam. These originally come from shredded plastic offcuts from other productions that would otherwise be disposed of. Accordingly, our high-density PU foam consists of 100% recycled materials. The recycling process also takes place in-house, so there is no separate transportation with CO2 emissions. The foam pieces are pressed firmly into their molds to cushions for unevenness on road surface. The high-density PU foam is soft and comfortable, but does not lose volume due to the high density, so that the saddle always retains its shape.
AirFoam
(Series: Sonic, Dynamic and Static)
AirFoam is oxygen-treated PU foam that is 30% more shock-absorbent than conventional PU foam. Thanks to its natural cushioning, it reduces fatigue and numbness on long rides. The filling is therefore mainly used in our sporty saddles.
Saddle shells
D2 shell construction
(Series: Anatomic, Sonic and Logic)
When developing the shell structure of our Anatomic, Sonic and Logic saddle models, we opted for a patented "Double Density" (D2). The durable and lightweight plastic core shell is used to cushion the contact zones, i.e. where you touch the saddle. It is double-density, i.e. harder and less flexible than conventional saddle shells. The D2 shells of all models are made from 30% recycled materials.
D1 Schalenaufbau
(Serie: Magic)
Nylon fiber composite shell
(Series: Majestic, Static and Dynamic)
We use nylon fibers wherever weight is a topic. This is because synthetic polyamide fibers are particularly light and are therefore ideal for the lower shells of sporty saddles. They are also more flexible than D2 shells, enhancing comfort that would otherwise be compromised by the narrower shape and reduced padding. The nylon fiber composite shells in our saddles are also made from 30% recycled plastic.
Saddle suspension
Elastomer suspension
(Series: Anatomic and Logic)
This suspension system consists of elastic materials such as polyurethane. In our saddles, the elastomer suspension is made from 100% recycled plastic. Due to the flexibility of the materials, abrupt shocks caused by unevenness on the ground are compensated for. Among other things, this relieves back pain when you ride over kerbs, for example. Another advantage for cyclists with children: with elastomers, there is no risk of the little passengers in the child seat getting their fingers caught in a spring.
Heavy duty coil suspension
(Series: Majestic)
The coil suspension of our largest saddle model is specially reinforced and is therefore suitable for heavy bikes (e.g. cargo bikes) and heavy cyclists. Thanks to the robust materials, the Heavy Duty coil suspension always retains its shape.
Combined elastomer and compression spring suspension
(Series: Majestic)
The best of both worlds: The suspension of our Majestic saddles work with a compression spring encased in elastomers. It therefore has the same flexible properties as a stand-alone compression spring, but is much more durable thanks to the protective plastic. This in turn does not reduce the suspension due to its elastic material. The sheathing also serves as an anti-trap protection for children in the child seat.
Anatomic
The Anatomic models are our all-rounders for everyday cyclists and trekking riders. They are made from fully recycled high-density PU foam and are equipped with the Better Ride Cover. Another practical feature is the built-in handle, which makes transporting the bike even easier. The durable and lightweight D2 plastic core shell and the elastomer suspension serve to cushion uneven surfaces.
Sonic
For e-bikes of all kinds: In the Sonic range, you will find saddles for almost every bike - from comfortable city e-bikes to e-gravel bikes. Thanks to their anti-slip shape, you will sit securely at higher speeds and in changing terrain. The AirFoam filling provides the necessary absorption of bumps. These models also have a handle on the lower shell of the saddle to make transportation easier.
Logic
Pain-free on your daily commute or on a multi-day bike ride - the Logic saddles are an ergonomic blessing. The comfort gel insert adapts to your buttocks and the high-density PU foam provides plenty of comfort. Thanks to the Sport Zone, the pressure on sensitive areas of your body is also reduced to prevent numbness when riding.
Majestic
The Majestic saddles are the largest models in our range. Depending on the saddle, their suspension technologies vary from a heavy-duty coil suspension to a combined elastomer and compression suspension. Everything in this series revolves around the greatest possible comfort for relaxed cycling.
Dynamic
Even in rainy weather, you can continue your adventure on your mountain bike or road bike, as the Dynamic saddles are 100% waterproof thanks to their special welding. Uneven terrain can no longer spoil your riding enjoyment: The AirFoam inside absorbs shocks caused by roots in the forest or potholes in the asphalt. The nylon composite shell is particularly light and shaped so that you have plenty of legroom.
Static
Aerodynamic, waterproof and ergonomic - that's our Static saddle! The road bike seat is equipped with the Better Ride Cover and with AirFoam on the inside. Thanks to the Zone Cut, the fully cut-out middle section, the pressure is reduced and you also have a grip option to make it easier to carry your gravel or road bike.
Magic
Our saddle series for the smallest cyclists. The Magic children's saddle is an upgrade to the initial parts of many children's and youth bikes. With its high-density PU foam, it ensures maximum comfort so that even the first pedal strokes are remembered fondly. The black steel frame on the underside has an integrated scale with which the saddle can be precisely adjusted. The fox design is also particularly appealing for little adventurers.
Mounting a saddle
When cycling, the most weight is put on the saddle. So it must fit. To test your model immediately, you can mount it yourself. Find out how.
