EcoLoc
At CONTEC, our EcoLoc series marks the entry into on-the-go bicycle safety. Among the EcoLocs, we offer all the relevant types of locks, such as cable, armoured cable, spiral and U-locks. The hardened special steel of the U-lock resists sawing, cutting and hard hits. The EcoLoc cable locks convince with their flexible ease of use. They are available in different security levels, optionally with a combination lock or as a spiral cable lock. If you like flexibility, but want to be even safer, the EcoLoc armoured cable locks are the right choice: A highly flexible steel cable, protected by hardened steel joints, provides strong protection.
5 tips on how to safely lock up your bike
- Tipp #1: Choose a secure lock. Spiral locks are more suitable for quick stops – frame locks for locking up for a long time.
- Tipp #2: Choose a safe place. Illuminated, high-traffic streets or (video) monitored areas are ideal.
- Tipp #3: Choose a fixed object. Connect your bike to a firmly anchored object, such as a tree or bicycle stand.
- Tipp #4: Give potential thieves little room for their tools and lock your bike as closely as possible to the object.
- Tipp #5: Make sure the lock hole is facing down. This makes it difficult for thieves to use a lock pick.

Learn more about lock technologies
What exactly makes a lock so safe and what kind of systems are behind the different types of locks? If you have ever asked yourself this, you can find the answers to these questions here.
GPS tracker
Always keep an eye on your bike, no matter where you are - with GPS trackers! These can be mounted on the bike with the appropriate mount, so that they are hidden and cannot be removed by thieves in the event of theft. Our waterproof Apple AirTag mounts can do just that. CONTEC Clue is available in two versions, for mounting under the bottle cage or under the saddle.
Bike locks
Every day, millions of cyclists park their favourite bike in public places such as train stations or in front of shops, often for hours on end. The best way to minimise the risk here is to invest in one or more good bicycle locks to protect you from theft.
In our CONTEC range, we offer you different lock models with different security levels, suitable for its intended use and according to your preferences. While some prefer to use a combination lock, others prefer to use a bicycle lock with a key. The shape of the locks also differs considerably. Frame, folding and U-locks are the preferred choice for particularly high safety needs. If you want a lot of flexibility, you can go with a flexible chain or a cable lock.
Our bike lock collection is divided into three different families - our high-performance PowerLoc locks, our affordable EcoLocs and our soft SLocs with a hard core.
SLoc
Hard core and soft shell: our stylish SLoc bike locks are coated with an environmentally friendly silicone that protects your bike from scratches. It feels good to the touch and consists of silicone, which is resistant to dirt, UV radiation and contamination as well as providing effective weather protection for the lock housing. In contrast to the soft cover, the hardened steel on the inside ensures a high level of security. Despite being packed with technology, all our SLocs with key or combination lock variants are particularly compact, so that they fit on any bike or in any bag.
Luggage solutions
Most people know that after parking and leaving the bike, you should take your belongings with you. But you should also secure your luggage while biking. Valuable items, such as your wallet or smartphone, should either be stowed directly in your jacket pocket or in a bike bag that you can see. In our range, you will find plenty of handlebar and frame bags as well as front baskets that can be attached in your field of vision.
With a pannier rack system such as MIK, you can click your rack bag on and off very quickly and secure it with a key. This means that nobody but you can remove the bag or basket. If that's still not enough for you, you can also find lockable luggage boxes in our range.
You want to stow larger items on your bike? For this, we recommend using a luggage rack system. Some of these are pre-assembled ex works. RACKTIME, AVS and MIK are standard equipment on some bikes. If you don't have a rack with a system and would like to know how to retrofit one, you can find our How To here.
Insurances
If all else fails and it's already too late, bike insurance can reimburse you for at least part of the financial loss that occurred when your bike was stolen. You can research the best insurance policies on well-known websites. Be sure to pay attention to the different benefits and conditions for compensation.
For many insurers, it is relevant whether your bike was even locked up at the time of the theft or where exactly it was parked. For example, if it was left unlocked "just for a moment" at your front door with a clear view of the street, you are liable because you did not secure your bike sufficiently.
So, what do we learn from this? Protect your bike from uninvited second owners by all means necessary!
