Trekking bike
Out into nature, along the coast or through the mountains - the world is just yours to explore by bike. If you like travelling with your trekking bike, you need durable, robust bike parts above all else. After all, on your weekend tours and spontaneous adventures, you want to be sure that your bike can cope with all routes without any problems.
Here you will find an overview of the bike parts that are particularly suitable for frequent riders on trekking bikes. Tip: If you're travelling with an e-trekking bike, you should also take a look at our parts guide for e-bikes.
Handlebars & stems
One feeling you don't need on long journeys is tingling hands or an aching back. Both of these can be indicators that your steering zone is not properly adjusted to you. The solution? Components that fit you perfectly thanks to the correct adjustment of your handlebars and stem.
How-To: Adjust the seating position on a trekking bike
On a trekking bike, you should always adopt a slightly forward-leaning posture to relieve the strain on your back. You can learn how to do this and what else to consider beyond just a properly adjusted steering zone in our How To guide.
Grips
The choice of grips is often an underestimated factor when cycling. The contact points on the hands play a major role here. Choosing the right components and adjusting them correctly is crucial for a healthy and pain-free ride. The grips from our MERGE series are available in different versions so that you can always find a suitable one. Each model in the MERGE series is available in both rubber and cork versions. Another special feature of the MERGE grips is that they are compatible with our G-Link system. The G-Link interface allows you to attach practical accessories such as a bike mirror or bell directly to the grip.
Saddles
Exploring the area, letting your gaze wander, taking it easy - on tours, speed and sporty riding are less important to you and comfort is a priority? That's where the saddle plays a major role. Cushioned or padded with gel inserts, with a pressure relief channel or rear cutout, wide or narrow - the choice of saddle is as individual as the cyclist sitting on it.
Your bike, your adventure
Seatposts
On the various routes of your cycle tours, you will be riding on different surfaces: a gravel path, a road or even a forest path covered in roots. Especially for longer tours, it is worth fitting your trekking bike with a suspension seatpost. We offer you a large selection with various suspension technologies and numerous additional features that will help you ride even more comfortably.
Pedals
The choice of pedals should also be carefully considered. A lot depends on the prevailing conditions of your tour. If you tend to ride on forest paths, platform pedals offer you a large pedalling surface and also tend to collect less dirt. If you also like to ride through the city on your trekking bike, you should fit a block pedal, as these usually have reflectors on the sides, which are mandatory in road traffic.
Wheels
A smooth wheel is crucial for a smooth ride on a trekking bike. Above all, it should be able to carry enough weight so that you can load your heavy trekking bike with luggage without any worries. If you are travelling with an e-trekking bike, it is also important that you choose wheels that are suitable for e-bikes.
Stands
As enjoyable as it is to ride on your bike tour, there will be times when you need to take a break to enjoy a beautiful viewpoint or fulfil human needs. This is particularly annoying if you have a bike without a pre-mounted kickstand! Leaning or lying down can quickly cause scratches, but unfortunately, we can help with that too.
CONTEC Ox
The Ox side kickstand and Ox rear kickstand can support bikes weighing up to 25 kilograms. They are made of die-cast aluminium with an extra-wide plastic base and provide plenty of support. Both models fit bikes with 26 to 29 inch wheels.
CONTEC MERGE Trekking Bar Kork
The MERGE Trekking Bar cork grips are particularly suitable for more active cyclists. The horns on the outside of the grips not only offer stability, but also an additional, optional hand position. Changing grip positions prevents your hands from falling asleep too quickly. The cork is particularly kind to the skin and breathable. Sweat from your hands is quickly absorbed and shocks caused by uneven ground are directly cushioned so that your wrist is not subjected to too much strain. The cork on the grip not only looks stylish, but is also made from renewable raw materials!
Further grips for trekking bikes:
Suspension seatposts with air suspension
Here, an air cartridge ensures a responsive spring behaviour. Even the smallest shocks are absorbed and increase the feel-good factor on the bike. Another plus is that the air suspension is easy to adjust to the rider's weight. All you need is a shock pump with a pressure gauge or a hex spanner.
Suspension seatposts with steel suspension
A steel spring is a robust and reliable suspension technology. Thanks to their linear spring behaviour, they are also very consistent in the riding impression they convey. Different spring hardnesses help to adapt to the rider's weight.
Racks
To not miss any essentials when travelling, you should make use of the bag attachment options on your bike. The pannier rack is already pre-installed on many trekking bikes. If this is not the case, it can easily be retrofitted.
CONTEC CRICKER
Our aluminium CRICKER rack combines high load capacity with flexible mounting. The CRICKER is suitable for mounting on the seatpost of your bike and has a maximum load capacity of 10 kilograms. It is also available as a version with an extra pannier stop. You just attach the CRICKER FIX to the rear of your bike as per and with it, carry a load of up to 25 kilograms. All CRICKER racks are equipped with the MIK system.
CONTEC Exit Core
The Exit Core wheels are our all-rounders for particularly high resistance to the big and small challenges on your travels. With a permissible load of up to 150 kilograms system weight, even heavy pieces of luggage are no problem for the Exit Core wheels. They form a symbiosis of our Core hubs, which are very low-maintenance thanks to their robust construction, and our Exit rims, which are available in various sizes and are suitable for the corresponding trekking tyres.
All CONTEC wheels are assembled in our wheel factory in Hoya/Lower Saxony (Germany) by experienced specialists and perfectly centred using the latest technology.
CONTEC Logic
The Logic is exactly the right saddle if you like to go on longer bike tours with your trekking bike: it offers you sufficient comfort and freedom of movement. Inside there is a high density PU foam and gel insert that moulds to the shape of your buttocks when you sit down and slides back into its original shape when you get off. The Logic adapts to its rider with every ride so that you are always sitting comfortably. The surface consists of a synthetic PVC cover that is vacuum-sealed, 100% waterproof and therefore easy to clean. The elastomer suspension provides additional cushioning. The elastomer suspension and the PU foam inside the saddle is made from recycled materials.
CONTEC Sendai 60
With the right handlebar, a healthy riding posture comes (almost) automatically. We have designed our Sendai 60 especially for extended trekking tours. The number behind our handlebar series, such as Sendai or Mito, always stands for your posture! For an active riding style such as on a trekking bike, a slightly bent-forward position is just right. Your back should be at about a 60° angle to the road.
CONTEC Ueda Hybrid
Adjustable stems, such as the Ueda Hybrid, allow you to adjust the height of your handlebar on the road. All you need is an hexagon socket spanner in the right size for the respective stem. The Ueda Hybrid can be adjusted from -10° to +60°, providing ample stiffness and support in any position to keep your handlebar steady and wobble-free.

CONTEC A-Grind
The A-Grind pedal, for example, offers you a good combination of the two variants. The open design means that not too much mud is collected on the pedal and the pins offer you grip even in wet weather conditions. The reflectors ensure better visibility. What's more, the A-Grind pedal is approved for a maximum system weight of 150 kilograms, which means you can also ride it with a lot of luggage or a heavy e-bike without any problems.
